2009 National Training Grant The Family Economics & Financial Education Project will be conducting a national family financial literacy conference in Tucson, Arizona for educators from throughout the United States June 15-18, 2009. Training sessions are led by FEFE staff members and master teachers, university faculty, and professionals in the field. The training equips participants with all of the materials, skills, and knowledge required to teach the semester curriculum, “Take Charge of Your Finances” in addition to training on the introductory curriculum “Get Ready to Take Charge of Your Finances.” Lesson plans are activity based designed using the multiple intelligences model, and in a ready-to-teach format. Although the training is content driven, the same active learning approach is employed throughout the training to ensure educators have fun while learning how to effectively use the materials. In addition, educators have the opportunity to network with other professionals.
Funding Your Next Conference Requesting Funds: If you are interested in attending the training but not eligible to receive a grant or require additional funds for travel, FEFE has a few recommendations to help with training cost; (1) Contact local financial institutions and community organizations, (2) Perkins funds, (3) talk to your school administration. FEFE has developed materials to help you request funding for the conference, this information may be applied to any training where additional monies are needed. Fund Request Packet:
