Consumer Jungle Website Transition Questions

Back to Consumer Jungle.

1. What will happen to the current Consumer Jungle Lesson Plans that I currently use?

All Consumer Jungle Lesson Plans, Quizzes, Answer Keys, and other resources are available on the FEFE website. Since many of the Consumer Jungle materials are out of date, the Take Charge America Institute will be transferring some of the Consumer Jungle content into the Family Economics & Financial Education (FEFE) curriculum (which is updated frequently and tested by educators in the classroom) or will be weaved into the content on the new site. Due to this transition, the current Consumer Jungle materials will be available on this FEFE site for a year and then will no longer be available in their current form. TCAI feels that this will be the best way to ensure that you are receiving the most up-to-date curriculum materials.

    2. Do I have to be a FEFE website user in order to download the current Consumer Jungle curriculum materials?

Yes. As a way to ensure students do not have access to answer keys, the Family Economics & Financial Education project uses a sign-in process. Therefore, in order to access the Consumer Jungle materials, a Username and Password are required. Registration to obtain a FEFE Username and Password are FREE. Once you create a login on the FEFE website, not only will you have access to all Consumer Jungle materials, but you will also have access to all of the FREE, up-to-date FEFE curriculum materials! If you have any questions about how to create a FEFE login, or anything about the FEFE website, please click here.

    3. Will my Consumer Jungle login information from the old site carry over to the new Consumer Jungle website?

Unfortunately no. All past Consumer Jungle login information will be lost during the transition process. The new Consumer Jungle website is student focused so there will not be an educator login section. To access to the Consumer Jungle resources, register to be a FEFE user and then visit http://fefe.arizona.edu/consumer-jungle.

    4. What is Family Economics & Financial Education?

FEFE is a program of the Take Charge America Institute for Consumer Financial Education and Research at The University of Arizona. The FEFE project is based on the idea that a university-based financial education outreach program, built on cutting-edge research, can strengthen and extend the ability of schools and community organizations to raise the personal financial capabilities of young adults. FEFE provides more than 22,000 educators nationwide with FREE, ready-to-teach classroom materials, teacher training, newsletters, grants, and other activities that expand their knowledge of family economics and enable them to incorporate money management related lessons into their 7-12th grade classrooms. To provide our users with high quality materials, FEFE focuses on its four main principles.

       1. By Educators…For Educators: FEFE offers one of the only family finance curriculums which is designed, tested, and edited “by educators…for educators”. Ongoing collaboration among classroom educators, university academics, and business partners is the hallmark of FEFE’s success and fundamental to our continued growth.

  • Educator Teams:

    • A National Master Educator Team of selected educators from across the nation works with FEFE’s staff to develop and evaluate curriculum and conduct peer-led trainings.

    • State Educator Teams formed at the state level are selected educators who partner with the FEFE staff in identifying and helping to develop state specific support materials.

  • The TCAI Research Advisory Council of prominent national researchers from a variety of academic disciplines ensures the incorporation of cutting edge research insights impacting consumer behavior into all TCAI educational outreach programs, including FEFE.

  • An Institute Advisory Board brings participation and strategic planning input from other financial institutions and industry leaders who are interested in promoting financial literacy

      2. Educator Designed Curriculum: More than 100 lesson plans and related classroom teaching materials have been developed and are updated as needed by our National Master Educator Team. All lessons are based on the multiple intelligences model and active learning theories, are aligned to most state and national standards, and can either be used independently or as part of complete courses.

      3. Professional Development: Resources are available to educators who would like to learn more about FEFE classroom materials, implementation methods, activities, handouts, assessment tools and content, giving them the flexibility and confidence to incorporate money management studies into their classrooms. There resources include:

  • Local, regional, and national trainings provide educators with networking opportunities and are led by current classroom educators who model FEFE lesson plan activities.

  • Webinars are available from renowned experts and leading scholars discussing cutting-edge trends.

  • Our FEFE Now newsletter keeps educators informed on topical information and integration ideas for the classroom.

  • FEFE also offers online communities for educator engagement and networking.

    4. Support Staff: FEFE has a full-time staff of professionals who are available to answer questions, and provide support to participating school districts, teachers and community outreach partners.

We value your support and input towards this exciting new development. If you have any questions, please contact us at 520-626-4209 or at tcainstitute@cals.arizona.edu.

Sincerely,
The TCAI and Consumer Jungle Team
